Sensors for Biomass Monitoring in Vegetated Green Infrastructure: A Review

چکیده

Bioretention cells, or rain gardens, can effectively reduce many contaminants in polluted stormwater through phytoremediation and bioremediation. The vegetated soil structure develops bacterial communities both within the around vegetation roots that play a significant role bioremediative process. Prediction of bioretention cell’s performance efficacy is essential to design process, operation, maintenance throughout life cell. One key hurdles these important issues and, therefore, appropriate designs, lack effective inexpensive devices for monitoring quantitatively assessing this process field. This research reviews available technologies biomass assesses their potential quantifying processes gardens. methods are discussed based on accuracy calibration requirements, use situ, real-time, characterizing biofilm formation media undergoes large fluctuations nutrient supply. microscopical, piezoelectric, fiber-optic, thermometric, electrochemical. Microscopical precluded from field but would be verification any field-based sensor. Piezoelectric, some electrochemical-based reviewed come with limitations by way support mechanisms insufficient detection limits. impedance-based electrochemical method shows most promise applications it supported microscopical validation.

A Comprehensive Review of Blue-Green Infrastructure Concepts

Climate change is expected to result in more intense and longer-lasting droughts and increase in the frequency and intensity of heavy rainfall events. The combination of drought followed by intense rainfall increases the risk of severe flooding, with impacts on a range of natural and anthropogenic systems, including infrastructure (road washouts, damage to houses) and impacts on agriculture (so...
